Who would have believed that the Syrian people would rise up. Who would have believed that their revolution would be the mother of Arab revolutions and they will make the true Arab spring from the ocean to the Gulf? In close examination to the unprecedented Arab events of 2011, it could easily be said that the event of the events was the Syrian people.

The Syrian people have surprised us with their ability to resist. It was the man of the year and every year. It was the defiance in the face of a regime that has no goal other than crushing it, rendering it obedient and denying its individuals the citizenship's rights.

The Syrian people were the man of 2011as well as the man of 2012. Who would have thought that the Syrian people would have survived all this time in the face of a regime that has no concern other than confiscating their will and turning them into mere numbers similar to what is happening in North Korea, where Kim Jog Il succeeded his father Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Un succeeded his father Kim Jon Il.  

Syria is not North Korea, where the north Korean people may surprise us one day. The Syrian people are resisting the regime and refuse subjugatimng to it. Syria consists of groups that still seek to establish a democratic state that would live naturally away for the fantasy of the regional role that doesn't exist. 

The Syrian people are fed up of trading in them and the continuous escapist devices which did not deceive them. The Syrian people know that the talk about resistance and objection is only a justification for being manipulating , impoverishing them and to extort their rights so as to turn them into a mere herd.

That is why the Syrian people have revolted. It was the surprise of the Arab spring that would not flower except in Damascus. There is no value for the Arab spring unless it flowers in Damascus to produce a new regime that would become a model to the Arabs and the non-Arabs in the region away from any kind of injustice fanaticism, racism and religious extremism.

Few are those who believed in betting on the Syrian people. Most of the Arabs and foreigners believed that there is no hope in the Syrian people and that the existing regime is capable of crushing any popular uprising.

The Syrians have surprised most of the Arabs and non-Arabs including Europe and the United States. The Syrians took to streets, and they will still pour to the streets in larger numbers despite the injustice and the arbitrary arrests that did not respect even the most purest Syrians who were the most adherent to the motherland and the cultural Arabism.
It is inevitable at the end that the situation would explode in Syria for good reasons. In the forefront of these reasons is that the regime was not able to find solution to all problems for years, starting with freedom of expression, and ending with bread. It also includes securing the minimum level of equality between citizens away from sectarianism...

The simple Syrian knows that the slogans used by a regime that is not capable of making war or peace and that it is employed for serving the interests of a family and a group that is affiliating to it and that they have no goal but to stay in power. The regime was obsessed with clinging to power so it didn't understand the meaning of its military withdrawal from Lebanon because of the assassination of Rafik al-Hariri and his companions. It didn't understand the strategic change that the region has experienced due to this assassination that placed it under the mercy of Iran in Lebanon. It hadn't learned of the experiences it had undergone. On the contrary it is sticking to the old book from which the pillars of the regime are reading, which is based on the exemption of others.

The regime kept on reading the book until it has been surprised that there is no way out than the cancellation of their people. It didn't not understand up to now that the cancellation of the people is impossible and that the cancellation of the people will not solve the historical organic problem that the regime suffers ever since its emergence.

The truth is that the regime should suffer facing the bitter truth in terms of his leading the country at the same time  into a crisis of orderliness and entity and that the teaching of the Syrians in the schools that Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Iskenderun are natural parts of Syria is only a joke. Perhaps the problem is that the joke has continued for a long time and it is time to face reality.

It is indeed that the Syrian regime is based on extortion and the Syrian people know that it cannot be reformed. Moreover if the regime is betting on the split of the opposition its bet is not in its right place.

There is no room for such bets because the regime's problem is not with the opposition. It is with the Syrian people. The Syrian people no longer accept living in a cage. They know what is going on in the world and they know all the details. They know that the regime that calls for secularism in Syria wouldn't be credible with its people when it supports al-Qaeda in Iraq and a doctrinal armed party belonging to Iran in Lebanon.  

Within half a century of the emergence of the Syrian regime that started in 1963 as civil Baathist and ended up as a family Baathist, nothing has changed. Its objectives from the beginning are to cancel the Syrian people . it appeared that the Syrians refuse to cancel themselves and that Syria is not North Korea. 

The Syrians surprised the regime as the Lebanese have surprised it before. It appears that the Syrians like the Lebanese are fond of the culture of life and they refuse the buzz slogans that deceive no body.

They are the man of the year and every year. Syria will be the beating heart of Arabism. The hint here is to the cultural Arabism and not the Arabism of bids that serves only a racist state called Israel, no more no less.
